EDUCATION

Dr. Ahmad graduated from McGill University and received his medical degree with distinction from St. George's University School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Internship at the Brown University Medical Center. Following his residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Henry Ford Health System, he completed fellowship training in Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery, Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery and Cranial Base Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

EXPERIENCE

Dr. Ahmad is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the field of Otolaryngology. He is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, American Head & Neck Society, European Head & Neck Society, Triologic Society, American College of Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.

PRACTICE

Dr. Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the VCU Medical Center. He is actively engaged in the education and training of residents. His clinical interests include head and neck tumor surgery, head and neck reconstructive surgery (including reconstruction after Mohs surgery), skull base surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery, laryngology and the care of the professional voice, and general otolaryngology. He also performs Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for tumors of the head and neck. He is one of the first surgeons in Virginia to perform this procedure, which is offered only at a small number of centers in the U.S.

PERSONAL PROFILE

In his free time, Dr. Ahmad loves travelling and reading. He is an ardent soccer fan, enjoys cooking and fine cuisine and most importantly, treasures spending time with his family.
