Dr. Benson is Director of the Cornea and External Disease Service in the Department of Opthalmology at Virginia Commonwealth.
EDUCATION
Dr. William H. Benson received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and earned his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed an ophthalmology residency at West Virginia University School of Medicine, and two successive fellowships in Cornea & External Disease and Cornea & Refractive Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Benson was the State Medical Director for the Old Dominion Eye Bank from 1995-2006. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO), and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Benson has received the honor of being selected by his colleagues as one of “Richmond’s Top Doctors” by Richmond Magazine.
PRACTICE
Dr. Benson is Professor and Chairman and Director of the Cornea and External Disease Service in the Department of Ophthalmology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
