Dr. Chandler specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, and the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye disease.
EDUCATION
Dr. Chandler has been practicing in the Richmond, VA area since 1992, but previously he had attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, and had attended high school in Chesterfield County. Dr. Chandler received a B.A. degree in Biology from the University of Virginia, and an M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He underwent an Internal Medicine Internship at the Medical College of Hampton Roads, followed by an Ophthalmology Residency at the Washington Hospital Center, in Washington D.C.
EXPERIENCE
D. Alan Chandler M.D. is a Board Certified ophthalmologist (American Board of Ophthalmology) specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology, small incision cataract extraction with lens implant, medical and surgical management of glaucoma, and the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye disease. He is certified in the use of the Restor multifocal lens implant. Dr. Chandler is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has active membership in the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
PRACTICE
Dr. Chandler is in private practice with Richmond Eye Associates, and sees patients at the Mechanicsville office.
