Dr. Couser specializes in pediatric eye care, including surgical management of strabismus in adults and children.
EDUCATION
Dr. Couser received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Virginia. He completed his medical education and internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia/VCU School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Howard University Hospital, serving as co-chief resident in his final year. He then completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Couser joined the practice of Virginia Pediatric Ophthalmology Specialists in 2011.
PRACTICE
Virginia Pediatric Ophthalmology Specialists (VPOS) has been a busy entity since its inception in 2002 at Stony Point. Their work encompasses all aspects of pediatric eye care, including surgical management of strabismus in adults and children, children’s glasses, and contact lenses. Fluency in Spanish and Arabic is offered in the office.
PERSONAL PROFILE
Dr. Couser enjoys sports, reading about history, staying politically active, and whenever possible, traveling with his wife who is currently an Anesthesiology Resident at the Medical College of Virginia/VCU School of Medicine.
