EDUCATION
Dr. Niamtu is a graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine. He performed an Internship at Carolinas Medical Center and performed a 4 year hospital residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Niamtu has been board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery since 1985.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Niamtu is well known in international cosmetic facial surgery circles as surgeon, teacher and author and is regarded as a key opinion leader. He lectures internationally on cosmetic facial surgery and has taught on six continents around the world. He has written four textbooks as well as 22 chapters on other textbooks and has authored hundreds of publications on various cosmetic facial surgery topics.
PRACTICE
Dr. Niamtu limits his full time practice to cosmetic facial surgery. His office is located in the Shops at Belgrade on Huguenot Rd. He is a Fellow of The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and The American Society of Lasers and Medicine in Surgery.
PERSONAL PROFILE
Dr. Niamtu was voted "Best Plastic Surgeon to Take You Back 20 Years" by Richmond Magazine in 2010. In 2011 he was honored as a "Top Doc" by Plastic Surgery Practice Magazine and "Best Cosmetic Surgeon" by Style Magazine. Dr. Niamtu is very active in community service and is a recipient of the Times-Dispatch Jefferson Award for Community Service. He has served as chairperson for Operation Smile and Noah’s Children and is a spokesperson for Richmond ARC and Safe Harbor Women’s Shelter. Dr. Niamtu has provided many pro bono surgeries for third world children as well as local children and adults.
Dr. Niamtu is married and has two young special needs children.
