Dr. Outen’s specialty is family general ophthalmology, including eyeglasses, prescriptions, comprehensive eye exams, cataract surgery, treatment and/or surgery for glaucoma and treatment of other eye problems and diseases.
EDUCATION
Dr. Outen graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Virginia. His undergraduate degree was a B.S. from University of Richmond with a major in Biology. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree at The Medical College of Virginia. Upon finishing his internal medicine internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Dr. Outen did his residence in ophthalmology at The Medical College of Virginia where he was Chief Resident.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Outen has practiced Ophthalmology in Richmond since 1984. He is Board certified by The American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of The American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of The Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
PRACTICE
Dr. Outen provides family eye care including routine eye examinations, cataract surgery, and medical and laser treatment of glaucoma and other eye conditions.
PERSONAL PROFILE
Richmond has been Dr. Outen’s home since third grade. Hiking, gardening, and travel are his hobbies. He also enjoys Virginia history and architecture.
