Dr. Smith received his Bachelor of Arts in music from the University of Alabama. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After internship, Dr. Smith attended Wills Eye Institute for his residency in Ophthalmology. A fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Barnes Retina Institute at Washington University followed.
