Education

Dr. Coelho graduated from the Univeristy of Pennsylvania, and received his medical degree with distinction from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  Following his residency in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck surgery at Yale University, he completed a two year accredited fellowship in Otology & Neurotology at New York University. 

Experience

Dr. Coelho is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.  He has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, chapters, and books on otology and neurotology.  His current research intersts focus on cochlear implantation, stereotactic radiosurgery, geriatric otology and medical ethics. 

Practice

Dr. Coelho is an  Assistant Professor at VCU Department of Otolaryngology.  His clinical interests include tumors of the skull base (acoustic neuromas, glomus tumors), surgery of the facial nerve, surgery of the middle ear and mastoid, cholesteatoma, and cochlear implantation.  He also evaluates and treats patients with vestibular problems such as Meniere's disease and positional vertigo, as well as patients with hearing loss and tinnitus.
