Education

Dr. Bowman is a graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia, where he was an Echols Scholar.  He received his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.  He completed an internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia, where he served as chief resident.

Experience

Dr. Bowman is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in small incision cataract extraction with lens implant, glaucoma, laser surgery, macular degeneration, and the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic diseases of the eye. He performs routine comprehensive examinations, as well as those for the management of ocular disease.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology,a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology, The Richmond Academy of Medicine, and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, among others.  In addition, Dr. Bowman serves as a managing partner of Richmond Eye Associates.

The mission of the doctors and staff of Richmond Eye Associates is to provide the patient with professional, state-of-the-art medical and surgical care for the eyes. Whether performing routine eye examinations for glasses or contact lenses, or complex new procedures for the treatment of disease, we strive to maximize and preserve the patient’s vision.  We are a multi specialty group with comprehensive ophthalmologists as well as sub-specialists in corneal disease and glaucoma.  Our offices, all of which contain fully staffed optical shops, are conveniently located in Midlothian, Innsbrook, and Mechanicsville.

Personal Profile

Dr. Bowman lives in Richmond with his wife and children.  In his spare time he enjoys reading and playing golf. He is active in the University of Virginia Richmond Club, where he is a past Board of Directors member, and was the chairman of the Club's Evening Seminar Series.
