Education
Dr. Juan A. Astruc, Jr. received his bachelor of science in business from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He then completed an internship in Internal Medicine from the Medical College of Virginia where he continued his residency training in Ophthalmology. A fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery and Macular Diseases with J. Donald M. Gass, M.D. at Vanderbilt University followed.
Experience
Dr. Astruc is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is an active member of the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology.
Practice
Dr. Astruc's areas of expertise include retinal detachments, penetrating ocular trauma, macular surgery, retinal vascular diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Currently, Dr. Astruc is the Vice-Chief of the Medical Staff at Stony Point Surgery Center.
