Dr. Silverstein is a Virginia native and attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. He received a dual-degree at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Biomedical Science from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Biology from the School of Arts and Sciences. He then earned his M.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where Dr. Silverstein was awarded a Canby Robinson Scholarship. He completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Duke University Eye Center.
