ExperienceDr. Wortham has been in private practice in the Richmond area for nearly 20 years. He maintains a clinical faculty appointment with the Medical College of Virginia and enjoys working regularly with their craniofacial team.
PracticeVirginia Pediatric Ophthalmology Specialists (VPOS) has been a busy entity since its inception in 2002 at Stony Point Medical Office Building. Their work encompasses all aspects of pediatric eye care, including surgical management of strabismus in adults and children, children’s glasses, and contact lenses. Spanish and Arabic are spoken in the office.
EducationDr. Ed Wortham attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in biology in 1976. After graduating, Dr. Wortham furthered his knowledge and education while concentrating on biology and served as a teaching assistant during his graduate studies. In 1983, Dr. Wortham graduated from Northwestern University School of Medicine, in Chicago, Illinois and later completed his internship at the Department of Internal Medicine at The University of Oklahoma, Tulsa Medical College. For three years, Dr. Wortham served his residency in ophthalmology at the Northwestern University Medical Center. With a defined interest in pediatric ophthalmology, he spent one year in fellowship at the University of Toronto, Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.
ProfileDr. Wortham enjoys sailing, biking, photography, and, whenever possible, eye mission work abroad. He feels that the VPOS is successful largely due to a dedicated, professional, and caring staff.
