Suzanne Kim, O.D.
Dr. Kim specializes in ocular disease, specifically low vision, and is the Director of the MEDARVA Low Vision Center.
Dr. Suzanne Kim is Board Certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, as well as being a member of the following professional societies: the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, Neuro-Optometry Rehabilitation Association, and College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Kim was also the recipient of the Low Vision Eschenback Award for clinical excellence in low vision.
Dr. Kim was a private practice optometrist at Rathjens Vision Care in Milford, CT before moving to Richmond to become the Director of the MEDARVA Low Vision Center, where she is committed to providing low vision care to people with visual impairment in order to maximize their remaining usable vision and allow them to regain independence in activities of daily living.
Dr. Kim received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego, followed by her doctorate of optometry from the Western University of Heath Sciences College of Optometry. Then completed clinical internships at the following places: CA Community Health Center, Nipomo, CA; Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, WA; Vision Therapy Private Practice, Flint, MI; and The Villages VA Hospital, Ocala, FL. Following these internships, Dr. Kim continued to do her residency in Ocular Disease/Low Vision/Acquired Brain Injury at the West Haven Veteran Affairs Healthcare System in West Haven, CT, where she treated and provided low vision rehabilitative services to a broad range of visually impaired patients and legally blind veterans through the Inpatient Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center.
Dr. Kim enjoys hiking, yoga, and cooking in her free time. She also loves traveling around the world.
