Dr. Wilkes brings compassion, enthusiasm and more than three decades of experience to patients at Richmond ENT. As a board-certified otolaryngologist, he is trained in the medical and surgical treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose and throat (ENT), as well as structures of the neck and face. His many years of experience allows him to provide treatment and advice for a diverse range of ear, nose and throat concerns, especially balance, hearing disorders, ear diseases and allergies. He was one of the first doctors in Richmond to offer allergy management in an ear, nose and throat office – enhancing his ability to get excellent results with his ear, nose and sinus surgeries.
While attending the University of Georgia and working towards a degree in Chemistry, Dr. Wilkes found his love for medicine. There, he was initiated into the Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society. After graduating, he attended the Medical College of Georgia and later moved to Richmond, where he completed an internship in Pediatric Medicine and a Residency in Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Virginia . He then completed a fellowship in Otology at the Richmond Children’s Hospital and a preceptorship at the Los Angeles Foundation of Otology . In 1974, Dr. Wilkes received certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology.
When Dr. Wilkes is not practicing medicine and surgery, he continues to work with his hands by crafting intricate, wooden model ships. He also enjoys spending his spare time with his seven grandchildren.
