Dental extractions, or removing a tooth from the mouth, are performed for a variety of reasons. A few reasons are tooth decay that has destroyed most of the tooth, impacted wisdom teeth, and problematic wisdom teeth. A crowded mouth or infection are also reasons to perform a dental extraction.
Wisdom teeth are typically removed to correct a current problem or prevent problems from arising in the future. Problems that may occur include, but are not limited to, infection, impacted teeth, and red, swollen and painful gums.
